Whilst working in Italy for 12 years, Tony forged a good relationship with Unifor, one of Italy’s premium office furniture manufacturers. Having previously designed Unifor’s Sydney showroom, they sought us out when they were looking for new premises. We assumed the role of ‘real estate agent’, and, after finding a wonderful old print factory in Ultimo, we persuaded Unifor to buy the building.
The building was on two levels, with the lower level designated for a fit out to house the famous Swiss office furniture manufacturer Vitra.
The upper level featured a custom-designed ceiling and floating stone floor, with a series of custom wall cabinets to one side enclosing offices and an accessible lift. Stairs to the amenity areas also accessed the Vitra showroom below.
The flexible layout of the Unifor space was designed to be easily reconfigured with new furniture and wall systems in anticipation of future design developments.
